Life as Hospitality: The Art of Living Well

For 18 years, since my very first city tour for foreign guests at a friend’s hostel in Guayaquil, I’ve dedicated my life to hospitality—because every small detail has the power to transform a stay, and a life, into something unforgettable.

Life, like hospitality, is about creating experiences that connect us to the pleasure of simplicity.

I like to think of living well as the feeling of walking into an immaculate room where every detail matters.

From a perfectly made bed, with that unmistakable scent of cleanliness, to the softness you feel as you lie down on a mattress where rest becomes a ritual.

The bathroom, that personal sanctuary, must be impeccable. The tile grout, small but important, reflects that nothing is left to chance here. These are the invisible details that might go unnoticed at first glance, but when they are just right, they elevate the experience. A bathroom where everything shines, where every inch has been cared for, is more than just a functional space: it’s an invitation to well-being.

And then there’s the floor, so clean that walking barefoot on it is a pleasure in itself. That sense of freedom and comfort as you feel the ground under your feet without any worries, knowing that care has reached every corner.

Because in life, as in hospitality, it’s these small gestures that turn each day into a space of rest and pleasure.

Living well is exactly that: taking care of yourself as if every day were a stay at the finest hotel.

It’s living surrounded by details that comfort us, that make us feel at peace, and that allow us to enjoy the daily transformation of the simple into the extraordinary.
